So, who's ready to stuff their faces?

Before everyone runs out and consumes half their own body weight in crap this season, here are a couple of facts you should know:

    1. in 1900, the average American consumed 5 pounds of sugar per year. In 2000, that same Joe Average consumed a whopping 154 POUNDS of sugar per year.

    2. In 2003, the world health organization released a report that stated, among other things, that sugar consumption was a DIRECT CAUSE of obesity and type 2 diabetes. When the American sugar industry got a peek at it, they ran out and hired the biggest lobbying firm in the country to pressure the WHO. Next thing you know, Washington is threatening to pull it's $400 million in funding to the WHO, which would effectively have killed the entire organization.

The report was amended to exclude almost all of the bad publicity to the sugar industry.

    Enjoy your junk food.

    Go See Syriana

Seriously, go see it. Just don't expect it to be a big high-budget hollywood propaganda "yankee superheros blowing up the brown people" flick. Strip away the bullshit sidelines and completely pointless plot features (a CIA mechanic with a concience?), there's a message that needs to be heard.

God is dead, and you're a freaking moron

You know what really pisses me off? Ok, everything pisses me off, but I feel like ranting about something specific today.

Anyway, it really pisses me off when all these little gothlings start running around claiming "Oh yeah, I'm a nihilist".

    You have NO FREAKING CLUE

Just because some opportunistic, plagarizing, whining half wit with a synthesizer managed to butcher the singular "catch phrase" of a brilliant man and turn it into song lyrics, does not give you some profound insight into nihilism. If truly had such insight, you wouldn't be sitting around moping in some goth club, sucking back your 4 dollar a bottle red wine and crying about how terrible your meaningless existance is.

When Nietzche said "God is dead", he appended the statement with "and we've killed him." He wasn't saying that we are a spiritually barren people because science had slain religion. He was saying that we are spiritually barren because we, as a society, are so focused on seeking answers to the unanswerable, that we have lost sight of the beauty of our own existance.

Religion is a manifestation of people's desire to escape the misery of their own existance, an existance that is made miserable by people's desire to escape from it. How's that for a paradox for you? The very act of asking "Is this all there is?" is one of the surest methods of securing our own misery. There are, of course, other causes of misery, but understanding this one is critical.

It's no surprise that some of the most devout followers of religion are also some of the poorest in terms of quality of life. The act of pursuing spirituality is, in itself, a noble goal, but to seek it in the ethereal is folly. The strength of the human spirit lies not in kneeling before an idol. In fact, kneeling before anyone or anything is to yield your self determination to others. The strength of the human spirit can only be manifested when one is willing to shed false hope and sieze his or her destiny NOW. The answers you seek will come to everyone in his turn, why waste the time you have seeking those answers?

Now, will all you whiney bastards PLEASE quit calling yourselves nihilists? Because I swear, the next person who stumbles over me in an alcoholic haze and claims as much, I'm going to sieze the moment and BEAT YOU TO DEATH WITH YOUR BEER PITCHER.

    Well, my other computer died...

So I'm going to use my POS "spare parts" computer and play with a blog.

Maybe it will hold my attention for a few hours.
